North Korea launched a ballistic missile over Japan for the first time in five years. Which led the country's authorities to warn citizens to take shelter, and caused a temporary suspension of train operations in northern Japan.
According to the authorities in Tokyo, the North Korean missile flew a distance of 4,600 km, and this is probably the greatest distance of a test missile flight from North Korea, which sometimes launches its missile into space to avoid flying to neighboring countries.
The latest launch was Pyongyang's fifth in ten days against the backdrop of a showdown with the United States, South Korea and Japan.
Last week, the three countries held joint exercises that included an American aircraft carrier docked in South Korea for the first time since 2017.

Japan said it had taken no steps to shoot down the missile.
The country's defense minister said that Japan will not rule out any option, including a military response against the North Korean dictatorship.
South Korea said in response to the launch that it would strengthen its military and increase cooperation with its allies.
Speaking to reporters, the Japanese Prime Minister called North Korea's actions "barbaric" and said the government would continue to analyze the information from the missile launch.
Officials in Tokyo and Seoul said that the missile flew between 4,500-4,600 km and a maximum altitude of 1,000 km.
