Holzkirchen: truck driver overlooks the car when changing lanes on the Autobahn – one injured

Holzkirchen – When changing lanes on Tuesday morning, a truck driver on the A8 motorway probably overlooked another car.

The truck initially continued its journey.

On Tuesday (October 4th) at around 8.30 a.m. a semi-trailer truck drove on the A8 towards Munich.

"When changing lanes, the truck missed a 19-year-old from the Rosenheim district driving in the middle lane, who was driving her Fiat there," reports the police.

"The young woman instinctively swerved to the left and collided with a 44-year-old VW driver from Austria and then threw himself into the guardrail on the right.

There the Fiat came to rest with a total loss.

The truck that caused the accident initially continued its journey.

It was initially unclear whether he noticed anything about the accident he had caused.

Fortunately, the accident and the truck were observed by two uninvolved witnesses.

Both witnesses also managed to draw the truck's attention to its involvement in the accident, the police report.

"However, according to witnesses, this did not interest the Italian and he initially continued his journey," it continues.

"Apparently the 58-year-old was not quite comfortable with the whole thing, so he headed for the nearest parking lot and dialed the emergency call himself.

There he was eventually found by a patrol from the Holzkirchen motorway police.”

Because of the clearly established involvement in the accident and thus the criminal offense of hit-and-run, the truck driver was dismissed after consultation with the public prosecutor's office and after naming an authorized person on site.

A preliminary investigation is being carried out against him for "unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident" and "negligent bodily harm".

The Fiat driver and her 26-year-old passenger were examined by an ambulance at the scene of the accident, but did not have to be taken to a hospital for further treatment.

However, the passenger was slightly injured.

The Fiat suffered a total loss of around 7,000 euros in the accident.

The VW was slightly damaged (about 2500 euros).

In addition to a patrol from the Holzkirchen motorway police, the Holzkirchen and Otterfing fire brigades, the rescue service and the Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department were also deployed.

The right lane had to be closed for about an hour to record the accident and recover the car.

As a result, there was a considerable backwater in the direction of Munich, extending beyond Lake Seeham.
