On the afternoon of October 3, 2022, a 43-year-old from Erlangen got underwater while kayaking on the Loisach near Garmisch-Partenkirchen and died at the scene of the accident.
The Kripo Weilheim has started the investigation.
There are no indications of third-party participation.
A group of kayakers was on Monday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. on the Loisach in the area of the Griesenschlucht near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
A 43-year-old from Erlangen started to sway and finally capsized.
At first the kayaker tried in vain to free himself from this unfortunate situation.
As he got out of his kayak, he got caught on several submerged tree trunks, causing him to lose his head above the water.
Immediately initiated rescue attempts by his companions failed.
Since the site was very difficult to access, this was difficult for the forces deployed.
It took more than two hours for the volunteer fire brigade and a local water rescue organization to rescue the lifeless man from the floods.
For him, however, any help came too late.
The permanent criminal service of the Weilheim Criminal Police Inspectorate then took over the investigation to clarify the cause of death.
According to the current state of investigation, the Kripo is therefore assuming a tragic accident.
