The Reutberg monastery brewery is holding three general meetings this Tuesday.

What hasn't happened in the last 30 years: The venue isn't Sachsenkam.

Sachsenkam

– The Reutberg monastery brewery was unable to hold a general assembly for two years due to the corona.

This Tuesday (October 4th) everything will be made up for: There is a marathon with three meetings in a row.

The general assembly usually takes place as part of the Josefi Festival in a marquee on the Reutberg.

This time you deviate to the Bachbarlandkreis Weilheim-Schongau.

There, the Jaudenmühle in Habach celebrates its 1000th anniversary and 200 years of family ownership and has set up a marquee from Saturday to Monday.

"The owner of the Jaudenmühle is a member of ours and asked if we wanted to join in," says Reutberg CEO August Maerz.

2000 comrades are expected at the General Assembly

Since the company that had set up the tent for the meetings on Reutberg is no longer active, this solution was chosen.

In the last 30 years it has never happened that the meeting is not held directly on Reutberg.

"But for one day it wouldn't have made sense to set up a tent." The 2000 comrades who are expected will definitely find space in the tent in Habach.

Maerz is relaxed about the fact that some comrades will now have to travel longer.

“We have members from South Tyrol and northern Germany.

It will now be shorter for some, longer for others.” Of course it was unusual, but since the meeting had to be held, this was the best solution.

"Otherwise we would have had to hold four events next year and who knows what will happen again in the spring." So something had to be done now.

Klosterbrauerei Reutberg: food and beer as “dividends”?

The tasting at the meeting with food and beer, which is often referred to as a dividend, does not exist three times this year.

"Basically, it's not a dividend, but hospitality during the event," Maerz clarifies.

Paying dividends is basically impossible because the brewery needs the money to renew everything.

In addition, it is not logistically feasible.

Since the meetings have been canceled in recent years due to corona, there are three this year, as stipulated by the cooperative law.

The first meeting for the 2019 financial year begins at 3 p.m., the next at 4.30 p.m. and the current one at 8 p.m.

"Actually, the lawyers would have asked us to completely clear the tent after each meeting and reload it, but we resisted that," says Maerz.

Got through the Corona period better than others

A compromise has been found.

There are breaks between meetings, but comrades can remain seated.

Registration was requested for the first two meetings, some had already been received.

Since the annual financial statements for 2019 and 2020 have already been approved by the Supervisory Board, it is not about that much, but "just a vote".

Experts give tips

Basically, the balance sheet of the brewery is good.

"We got through better than some others," says Maerz.

"We were never in the red, that was not to be expected." Interest in acquiring cooperative shares in the brewery is also unbroken.

"The waiting list is getting longer and longer," says the CEO.
