But after that, the sport completely faded into the background.
At the end of the second period, a number of players complained of dizziness and nausea.
The outer gates of the stadium were immediately opened.
While those responsible initially agreed with the referees to extend the third break, both teams went to the parking lot in front of the ice rink.
All spectators were also asked to leave the ice rink.
When the health of many players deteriorated by the minute, emergency services, the fire brigade and the police were alerted.
A continuation of the game was no longer to be thought of.

After the first players had been taken to the Memmingen Clinic by ambulance and had been examined by a doctor, the diagnosis was made very quickly: carbon monoxide poisoning.
A normal ice hockey game had developed into a large-scale operation by all aid organizations.
The Memmingen fire brigade also confirmed through measurements that the odorless but toxic carbon monoxide was measured in the ice rink.
All players and those involved in the game were taken to the hospital in the hours that followed, where they were examined and treated by a doctor.
External supplementation of oxygen was usually the method of choice and the condition of those treated improved rapidly.
With the exception of the U18 players, who had to stay overnight for safety reasons, all of the injured were finally released by 1 a.m.
On Sunday (October 2nd, 2022) most players were still complaining of headaches.
The U18 players were also released from the hospital around noon and the team from Bergkamen was able to head home together.
"We would like to thank all the emergency services on site as well as the entire medical staff in the clinic for the quick help," said Peter Gemsjäger, team manager of the Memminger Eishockeyfrauen.

Carbon monoxide leaked: large-scale operation in Memminger ice rink
The Memmingen fire brigade had detected an increased carbon monoxide content in the breathing air on the ice surface and in the spectator stands, which according to the current status 47 people were injured, some of them slightly.
Initially, it was assumed that there was a defect in the ice machine's combustion engine.
A gas leak in the ice rink was also ruled out by the Memmingen fire brigade.
However, after checking the ice rink technology, the operator was able to identify a fault in the ventilation system as the cause and rectify it.
This was confirmed by independent measurements by the Memmingen fire brigade, which is why the game could be continued on Sunday (October 2nd, 2022) with the game ECDC Memmingen against the Blue Devils Weiden.
There were more than 70 emergency services on site.
