One month before the legislative elections, the Arabs of Israel are preparing to ignore the polls like never before.
According to a poll published on Monday, only 43.5% of them would plan to vote on November 1, a historically low level while the trend towards abstentionism is only strengthening from year to year within this minority which represents 21% of the Israeli population.
The two Arab parties in the running, Raam and Hadash-Taal, are currently credited with four seats each, out of the 120 in the Knesset.
A third party, Balad, is in the process of being disqualified by the electoral commission and would not reach, in any case, the threshold of votes necessary to obtain deputies.
Internal divisions and insecurity
In this country where elections continue at a frenetic pace, those of 2020 already seem a long way off.
At the time, the Arab parties, united on a single list, had imposed themselves as the third political force, with 15 deputies.
