assumes the elected opposition Christophe Rivenq (LR) whose municipality of election (Alès), will also benefit from regional subsidies to improve its video protection.
There, as in Valras-Plage (Hérault), the project to extend and equip the municipal police would have been carried out, even without regional aid.
However, he puts butter in the spinach of municipalities whose finances are under pressure.

”, greets Daniel Ballester, mayor of Valras-Plage, a coastal town where the annual envelope devoted to the municipal police amounts to 980,000 euros on a global budget municipal operating costs of 10 million euros.
Consequently, this amount is linked to the seasonal nature of local economic life with 40,000 inhabitants in the summer and 4,000 out of season.
A subject of tension with the State
In addition, the question of the funding of municipal police by regional councils is a sensitive subject.
At the beginning of the year, the State, through the voice of the prefect of the Ile-de-France region, had challenged the "security shield" desired by Valérie Pécresse.
