Will the city buy the Risart house at Buttermelcherstraße 16 or not?

The city council should have decided on Wednesday.

But some members want to lower the purchase price.

Munich - The city council is hesitant to buy the Risart house on Buttermelcherstrasse.

As reported, the bakery wants to sell its headquarters in the Gärtnerplatzviertel.

The traditional company builds a new bakery at Theresienhöhe.

Risart had put the area at Buttermelcherstrasse 16 up for sale.

It could therefore also have been acquired by an investor who might have paid considerably more, but who would then probably have created less affordable living space in a central location.

The city council wanted to anticipate this.

After an offer from the administration of more than 100 million euros, the company finally decided to initially only continue negotiations with the administration.

The fact that the neighboring property already belongs to the city also speaks in favor of the purchase.

Both properties could therefore be developed from a single source.

However, in addition to the purchase costs of 100 million euros, the administration calculates construction costs of 78.3 million euros.

88 new apartments are to be built, 14 already exist.

Roughly speaking, this corresponds to around 1.8 million euros per apartment.

Parts of the opposition had already criticized this as too expensive.

Critical voices are now also increasing among parts of the town hall majority, the SPD and the Greens.

The topic should actually be discussed on Wednesday in the non-public part of the General Assembly.

According to reports, some city councilors would like to lower the purchase price – ideally to 80 million euros.

This is also interesting because Rischart has been planning the sale of the company headquarters for some time.

The city could have had the 3100 square meter area as early as 2019 - for 79 million euros.

The city council at the time rejected the purchase by a majority.
