Today, Russia affirmed its commitment to the statement of the leaders of the five nuclear powers on the inadmissibility of nuclear war.
Russia Today quoted Konstantin Vorontsov, Deputy Director for Arms Control and Nuclear Proliferation at the Russian Foreign Ministry, as saying: “We consider one of the most important tasks to keep the five nuclear states committed to the inadmissibility of any war between states that possess nuclear weapons, which was reflected in the joint statement of the leaders of nuclear powers last January,” stressing that Russia is fully committed to this.
Earlier today, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the use of nuclear weapons by Russia would only be in accordance with the terms of the nuclear doctrine.
