A good policeman must have a hollow nose.
The patrol of the local police area of Kortrijk made its instincts speak, last Thursday, when it decided to check three men in a car registered in the Netherlands.
Identity check, summary search of the vehicle.
Apparently nothing to report.
While the check is in progress, a fourth man arrives on foot.
The local police also take his identity.
None of the four is reported to be searched, they can leave together.
But the names of these Dutch citizens are now listed in police files.
This will prove very useful.
What the Kortrijk police did not yet know was that disturbing information had just reached the federal prosecutor.
This information was – we are told – “simultaneous” with the police control, it had not materially had time to percolate down to the local level.
Any info from the Dutch police?…
