The documentary “House of Brides” tells the story of a family of 3 members, “Ms. Basma Salmon, her husband and their 9-year-old daughter, Maryam,” who live in a random neighborhood in Damascus in a house different from the reality we live in, where brides are filled with colors, dreams and sorrows.

The film, signed by the young woman, Ghufran Dirwan, in directing, script and dialogue, and produced by the Shiraz Academy of Arts, deals with real personalities from reality, because it is a documentary film, according to Dirwan, who explained during her interview with SANA Youth Newsletter that the film’s heroes are people she actually met during her visit to the house of Mrs. Bassima and loved To do a movie with them.

She pointed out that the half-hour film reviews the quiet life of Basma, her husband and their daughter in their strange house, which has become for them the only escape from real community life, being full of brides and colours. As a result of her health conditions, she occupied herself with embroidering dolls and collecting them in the house, which is filled with brides and colors, indicating that she tried, through the film, to document the story of a woman who left her mark in her home full of pain-laden dolls.

Derwan indicated that the film, which was filmed during the year 2021, and its montage work was carried out during the current year and recently shown, carries many humanitarian messages, most notably that hope exists despite the pain. Live on hope.

It is noteworthy that the film was edited and mixed by Mohamed Ali Al-Maleh and director of photography Abdel Rahman Shaheen.
