Police in the Californian county of Merced, between Fresno and San José, are looking for four members of a family, including an 8-month-old baby, who were kidnapped from a business in the South Merced area by a man they consider armed and dangerous. .
The Sheriff's Office asked in a statement Monday for the help of citizens to locate Aroohi Dheri, 8 months;
her mother, Jasleen Kaur, 27;
her father, Jasdeep Singh, 36;
and the baby's uncle, Amandeep Singh, 39.
Police posted photos of a kidnapping suspect on Facebook on Monday: He is a fair-skinned man with a shaved head, wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Authorities ask anyone who sees him not to approach him or the victims, and instead contact the police on the 911 emergency number.
The motive for the kidnapping is unknown.
The author has not contacted relatives or asked for ransom, according to Sheriff Vern Warnke.
“We have to get this family back home safe and sound,” he said.
