Traditional notes of Iranian culture in Lattakia

Within the framework of the exchange of cultural experiences between Syria and Iran, the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lattakia, in cooperation with Tishreen University, held an event entitled “Herritual Breaths from Iranian Culture”, at the Al-Basel Amphitheater at the Faculty of Science.

The event included a musical performance by the Iranian band "The Roaming Tone", which included traditional and poetic paragraphs. The sports band also presented a performance of "Zurkhaneh", which included sports movements accompanied by percussion of drums, musical playing and sports songs.

The Cultural Attaché of the Iranian Embassy in Latakia, Ali Reza Fadavi, explained in a speech that this event aims to provide the Syrian people with an opportunity to learn about some forms of cultural heritage such as music and sports, which Iran has been famous for since ancient times, noting the importance of these events as they work to consolidate and deepen the ties of love between The Iranian and Syrian peoples.

Heshmat Elah Baqeri, the leader of the sports group, explained to SANA that the sport of “Zurkhaneh” is a national and religious sport that is popular in Iran, and the athletes who practice it are very fit and have great contributions on the social level.

The musician accompanying the sports troupe, Amir Khoje Bandeh, pointed out that this participation comes to convey the Iranian heritage and introduce this sport, and he hopes that it will be popular in Syria.

The Persian language teacher at the Iranian Cultural Center in Latakia, Dr. Ramiz Al-Liwa, described the sporting activity as representing the spiritual state of man, and is considered one of the oldest sports in building bodies and nourishing the soul.
