Lieutenant Ilia Samoilenko, who lost his right eye and his left hand in combat, is one of the Ukrainian prisoners freed by the Russians on Wednesday September 22, after remaining more than four months in their hands.
That day, nearly 300 prisoners were released, including 215 by Ukraine and 56 by Russia, in what was the largest exchange of prisoners since the start of the war.
The operation was carried out on the Russian border, in the Chernihiv region of northern Ukraine.
