The former officers' home of the Prince Heinrich barracks in Lenggries has become the artistic home for the "Anna Chromy Art Gallery".

Works by the deceased, internationally renowned artist are on display there, but not yet open to the public.

Lenggries – The presentation of numerous works of art and the outdoor area were opened a few days ago by Wolfgang Stein in front of invited guests.

Stein was married to the artist for 60 years.

In September 2021, Chromy (81) succumbed to cancer.

She was buried in Salzburg.

On the first anniversary of her death, the works that had been brought into the Liechtenstein "Anna Chromy Art Foundation" were presented for the first time in the rooms with the official address "Schloss Luitpolderhöfe".

representative of fantastic realism

Chromy created over 500 paintings, bronze and marble sculptures over the course of her life, many of which can be seen in public spaces in the USA, Europe and Asia, including the Salzburg Cathedral and Jerusalem.

Numerous exhibitions introduced countless art lovers to their work.

As a representative of fantastic realism, Chromy is a household name in both European and American art centers.

Some things are reminiscent of her role model Salvador Dalí.

Eroticism usually also plays a major role in the colorful depictions full of passion, love and death.

Main work: "The Cloak of Conscience"

The creation of her life is "The Cloak of Conscience - The Cloak of Conscience and Tolerance", which is available in different versions, as a small version made of shiny gold bronze or as a larger-than-life marble sculpture.

The "cloak" made of white marble, presented in 2011 after several years of work, is five meters high including the base and requires a seven by seven meter square as a stand.

This would already exist in Lenggries, but it is still unclear whether the 50-ton exhibit will come here.

The marble stone, quarried in Carrara, weighed 250 tons and was worked by the artist for years using modern drilling techniques before taking the form of a seated man dressed in a cloak.

However, it only forms the shell: the actual human being is left out,

Deployed by Peter Wasner

Stein (83) uses all his energy to present his wife's artistic legacy to posterity.

A friendship with the entrepreneur Peter Wasner gave rise to the idea of presenting the foundation's works in Lenggries.

As is well known, Wasner bought the area with his Luitpolder Höfe GmbH after the German armed forces left and partially developed it into commercial space.

He made the neat officer's home, which is a listed monument, chic for the art gallery at great expense and rented it to the Liechtenstein Foundation.

Filming in Lenggries for the Cannes Film Festival

Chromy's sculptures, some of which are larger than life, are also presented outdoors.

An international audience came to the opening and was impressed by the objects and premises.

showed.

Stein explained the idea behind the foundation to the guests.

The Anna Chromy House sees itself as a "place of inner peace".

The works are currently not accessible to the public.

However, Stein has a concept in mind to open the house for guided tours.

In the course of the retrospective, a Parisian team made film recordings that will be used together with archive material for a documentary that is to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, says Stein.
