The presentation, by the prefect of Yvelines, of the insignia of knight of the order of merit to a Muslim representative triggered an unprecedented wave

An unprecedented runaway.

It was enough for the prefecture to mention the presentation of a decoration to the president of a Muslim collective for the Twitter account of the prefect of Yvelines to get carried away in an incredible way.

Monday at 4 p.m., the prefect's message, published Friday evening, had been seen more than 60,000 times!

That is 10,000 more than the day before at the same time… A first for the prefecture, whose executives remained silent in front of this blue wave: usually, the most read tweets peak at 3,000 views.

Published Friday evening on this social network, the message is nevertheless remarkably sober.

We can read there that “Mohamed Ould Kherroubi, president of the council of Muslim institutions of Yvelines was awarded the insignia of knight of the national order of merit by the prefect.

The man, who also heads the association of Muslims in Versailles, is unknown to the general public and does not arouse any particular enthusiasm.

A photo shows the prefect pinning him in front of some prominent elected officials such as the president (LR) of the departmental council Pierre Bédier or Valérie Pécresse, president (Free!) of the Region.

Supporter of Eric Zemmour and member of his Reconquest party

But a few hours later, Damien Rieu seizes the information.

Thanks to the "magic" of social networks, information becomes controversial... Supporter of Éric Zemmour and member of his Reconquest party, this far-right activist is also a pro of "digital clash", as has dubbed the

newspaper

.

He has 140,000 followers on Twitter, much more than the 23,000 of the prefect of Yvelines.

He regularly denounces the “Islamization” and the “wildness” of French society, or even “anti-white racism”.

All the ingredients are there for a new clash.

And as expected, it is the panic on the network, known for the violence of the debates which reigns there.

The prefect is accused of being an “Islamist”, same compliment for Valérie Pécresse, also qualified as a “shrew” (sic)… An equally subtle tweet asks that we prepare “the mower” for these “p… traitors” .

“Anti-Rieu” get involved: “You're shit”, “we'll meet in hell”, helping to fuel the level of “conversation”.

The prefect Jean-Jacques Brot attends, forbidden, this surge of hateful messages.

Asked, his services did not wish to comment on this 2.0 controversy.
