The community hall in Schröding offers clubs and culture in the community a new home.

Finally the inauguration could be celebrated.

Schröding

- pilot apartments, bed and breakfast, swimming pool or village shop.

The ideas for using the old Schrödinger gymnasium were extremely creative, revealed Kirchberg's mayor Dieter Neumaier.

It finally became a citizens' hall, which was ceremonially opened on Sunday.

The atmosphere was great, there was a lot of laughter, especially when the Dorfen cabaret artist Alfred Mittermeier appeared.

When the new elementary school was built in 1996/97, the community had no money for a new gym, Neumaier recalled.

So they wanted to continue using the old one from the 1980s, which nobody was really happy with.

In 2003, the municipal council first thought about a community center in combination with a retirement home.

Five years later, the old school building and teacher's house were sold, demolished and in July the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building took place.

Since then, the municipality has used part as a meeting room, mayor's office, flag room and archive.

In 2016/17 a new gym could finally be built at the elementary school.

And the conversion and renovation of the old one started in the summer of 2018.

Municipal councils and members of the theater association gutted the concrete building and later took care of the stage construction.

Companies from the region took on a wide variety of trades.

Neumaier especially thanked Hannes and Martin Grandinger, Michael Huber, Michael Weber and Jürgen Wenhart, the many other hard-working helpers and the employees of the VG Steinkirchen and the building yard.

Spread over five budget years, the municipality invested around 300,000 euros in the conversion, including modern technology.

“The figures also show very clearly that this project bears the signature of my predecessor Hans Grandinger: 93 percent of the costs were incurred by April 2020,” says Neumaier.

The mayor thanked his predecessor and the municipal council for their "far-sighted and creative actions".

It turned out beautiful, the Bürgersaal, now it has to be filled with life.

Because it should strengthen the community, give the clubs opportunities for new ideas, proven and new events, "offer culture for all generations and not compete with our hosts, but rather complement them," said Neumaier.

Good cooperation with all neighbors is also important to the community.

"I'm glad the ring is finally closing," said Grandinger.

It annoyed him that everything had to be closed a few days after completion.

The inauguration was supposed to be in April 2020, but Corona threw a spanner in the works for the former mayor.

It is important that you have a common place where something is happening and you can be happy that you don't just have to hear bad news all the time, Grandinger explained.

He had intended a cross for a niche as a gift, but it has since disappeared, he said.

Jacek Jamiolkowski was “the first real pastor” on stage and blessed the community hall.

He was pleased that this was in close proximity to the church and that it could also be used for events.

Finally, Alfred Mittermeier artistically inaugurated the stage.

He did that with a funny and profound short program with cheeky puns, which was well received by the audience.

He teased about the Dorfen construction site, made fun of the gender madness and, after standing ovations, praised this "gem, at a time when one theater after the other is closing.

Make something out of it!

The community alone cannot do it.”
