Within the activities of the national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer, the Damascus Health Directorate, in cooperation with the Syrian Family Planning Association, organized today an awareness seminar on the importance of early detection and ways to prevent infection, at the Abu Dhar Al Ghafari Health Center in Damascus.
The participants in the symposium reviewed the latest medical developments in the field of treating breast tumors, methods of prevention and follow-up, definition of the nature of the disease, mammography, the most prominent warning symptoms of breast cancer and the women most at risk of contracting it, in addition to the reproductive health program and early detection services for breast cancer provided by the Ministry of Health.
In statements to SANA, the Director of Damascus Health, Dr. Muhammad Samer Shahrour, drew attention to the need to encourage women to undergo the necessary examinations for early detection of breast cancer, as the cure rate rises to about 90 percent in the event of early detection, indicating that the mammogram service is available around the clock. The year is through the Abu Dhar Al-Ghafari and Zuhair Habi centers and in the Ibn Al-Nafis and Al-Zahrawi hospitals.
Dr. Hazar Al-Miqdad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Syrian Family Planning Association, pointed out that breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, and early detection is a major factor in reducing the risk, providing timely treatment and increasing recovery rates.
Miqdad indicated that early detection of breast cancer includes monthly or annual clinical self-examination with radiological diagnostic methods that combine mammogram and echography, pointing to the association's efforts made throughout the year to pay attention to women's reproductive health and early detection of this disease in accordance with the protocols issued by the Ministry of Health. the health.
