In 2021, a gunshot killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust.

The revolver was fired by actor Alec Baldwin, who was now able to reach an agreement with the bereaved.

Hollywood – It's hard to imagine how Alec Baldwin (64) must have felt when, on October 21, 2021, he realized the effect of the shots he fired while filming the film "Rust".

The revolver was not "cold" - as it was put to Baldwin - but had contained live ammunition.

The cartridges fired injured director Joel Souza and fatally hit camerawoman Halyna Hutchins († 42).

The actor was now able to reach an agreement with their survivors.

"We are grateful to all those who helped resolve this tragic and painful situation," Baldwin said on Instagram.

As the producers of the western "Rust" announced, the Hollywood star has now reached an out-of-court settlement with the family of the deceased after the shot that killed camerawoman Halyna Hutchins on the set in New Mexico in 2021.

The focus of the negotiations was always the well-being of Hutchin's son.

On the set of the movie "Rust," producer and actor Baldwin fired the prop gun, which contained live ammunition.

The film's camerawoman, Halyna Hutchins († 42), was killed and director Joel Souza (49) was injured.

Widower Matthew Hutchins reiterated that "Halyna's death was a horrific accident."

Accordingly, it is not about "blaming or blaming" Baldwin or the other producers, but the appreciation of "Halyna's last [m] work".

Baldwin, on the other hand, blamed the on-set weapons master, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and assistant director Dave Halls, who handed him the gun, in an interview with CNN in August 2022.

"There are two people who didn't do what they should have done," the actor said

The tragedy at the time had not only sparked speculation as to why there was live ammunition in the gun, but also a series of civil lawsuits against Baldwin.

One of these was collected by Matthew Hutchins in February 2022.

According to the agreement, he should now become the producer of the film "Rust" and withdraw his lawsuit.

US media suspect that Hutchins will share in the revenue generated by the film.

This is supported by the fact that no amount of compensation for Halyna Hutchins' surviving dependents has been mentioned so far.

The western is to be completed with the original main cast, directed by Joel Souza.

The agreement still has to be approved by the court.

The authorities have so far issued a fine but not charged Halyna Hutchins in her death.

However, the public prosecutor emphasized that this could still happen.
