The Central Afforestation Committee discussed the planned production plan for fruitful afforestation projects for the year 2023, the implemented projects of the current year's plan, the final version of the proposed forestry bill, in addition to the pricing of local and export forest and fruitful plants for the 2022-2023 season.

It also discussed the reclamation plan for afforestation, the construction of forest roads, the restoration and isolation of fire lines, the production plan for the projects of the Forestry Directorate for the year 2023, implemented from the 2022 plan until the middle of last month, the determination of the location of the central tree feast 71 for the year 2022, the pastoral planting production plan, and what was implemented from it until The 15th of last September is in addition to the 2022-2023 season plan.

The Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Qatana, stressed during a meeting held today in the Ministry’s building the necessity of planning according to the capabilities and executable spaces, and focusing on ensuring the sustainability of reclaimed or forested sites, and choosing the central location of this year’s Tree Feast in the central region in one of the forested border sites that were burned or Encroachment between Homs and Hama.

The director of land reclamation projects and the development of fruitful afforestation, Engineer Khaled Shawkat, indicated that the area implemented from the beginning of the year until mid-September amounted to 1,424 hectares, including 390 hectares of fruitful afforestation and 206 hectares of a green belt. .

Director of Plant Production, Engineer Ahmed Haider, explained that the plan to produce the fruitful seedlings for the 2022-2023 season amounts to 3.3 million plants, while the plants ready for sale and distribution last season were 3.7 million plants. About 2.03 million plants were distributed and sold.

Meanwhile, the Director of Forestry, Engineer Bassem Al-Salloum, indicated that, during this year, 6.3 km of forest service roads were built, 810 km of forest roads were restored, and 33 km of forest roads and fire lines were built within the forests.

In turn, the Minister’s Adviser for Forestry Affairs, Dr. Ali Thabet, reviewed the measures taken to produce comprehensive maps in cooperation with the forestry platform, fire monitoring and meteorology, and disseminate them through the platform and agricultural media, which had a positive role in mitigating the occurrence of fires or speeding up access to and extinguishing them.
