Germering – Even if the three Germeringer wind orchestras are very different in their appearance and musical styles, they still have one thing in common – the love of music.

It doesn't matter whether the instrument of choice is a trombone, clarinet or flute.

A special reason was needed for all three orchestras to be seen together on one stage: the anniversary weekend entitled "The colors of brass band music".

The three brass bands are celebrating their 110th anniversary together – albeit a year late.

Stand concerts throughout Germering

It all started on Friday with an ecumenical festival service.

It continued on Saturday with various stand concerts distributed throughout Germering.

Some people were quite surprised, as music was suddenly being happily played in small ensembles in front of the bookstore or at the butcher's.

Not a matter of course given the weather forecast and the almost constant rain.

The highlight of the anniversary weekend then culminated in a joint concert by the three brass bands.

Rick Peperkamp, conductor of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra (SBO), was the first to take the stage.

The musicians cast a spell over the well-attended Orlando Hall with the "Fanfare for the House".

In his welcome speech, Mayor Andreas Haas initially gave the all-clear that he would leave his clarinet in the case and rather lean back and enjoy the gala concert as a visitor.

Maybe, he reveals with a smile on his lips, he'll get the instrument out for the 150th anniversary.

An announcement that prompts all three musical directors to invite the mayor to their respective rehearsals.

A colorful (gala) evening

"Music only becomes an experience in the community", emphasizes the chairwoman of the SBO Kerstin Gottschling shortly before Peperkamp and his musicians perform "Colour Symphony No.

3".

The colors white, yellow, blue, red and green ring out in different intensities in line with the motto "The colors of brass band music".

The town band, which appears in the classic style with black trousers, a white shirt and a red waistcoat, also takes the colorful theme of the evening as an example.

Conductor Matthias Zippel is even wearing his loveliest pair of red patent leather shoes for a special occasion.

Leaning back and closing your eyes doesn't always work when implementing "Mont-Blanc".

After all, the conductor describes the image of a mountain – with all its pitfalls.

A thunderstorm awaits the audience.

"Are you awake again?" Zippel asked jokingly.

The brass band of the volunteer fire brigade and its musical director Florian Loch formed the "hearty" conclusion.

Similar to the Bavarian flag, a white-blue - and not a red - thread runs through the selection of the brass band's pieces and thus also allows a touch of Oktoberfest atmosphere to move into the Germeringer Orlandosaal.

Loch jokes that the selection in rehearsals led to some mix-ups.

The pieces "White-Blue March" or "White-Blue - Ländlerpotpourri" were played.

After more than two hours of musical entertainment, the gala evening culminated in a joint performance by all three orchestras.

Even if it got a bit cramped on stage, all the musicians, around 140, moved together and once again proved their skills and, above all, that you can make music beyond your own horizon.

The pieces "The lady is a tramp", "On the beautiful blue Danube" and "The sun is rising" formed the celebratory conclusion of the evening, even if not of the anniversary weekend, as Sunday was entirely dedicated to young people.

Sunday dedicated to youth

Instruments could be made and tested here.

In addition, the youth orchestra and an ensemble of former young people each played free concerts in the forum of the town hall.

Because the offspring must also be nurtured and cared for so that the next anniversaries are a real success again.
