Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Aram Torosyan announced that Azerbaijan has returned 17 prisoners of war to Armenia.

Russia Today website quoted Torosyan as saying in a statement: "The Azerbaijani side has returned 17 prisoners of war to the Armenian side."

In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted in a tweet on Twitter the return of the prisoners, expressing his hope that joint efforts with international partners would contribute to making progress in resolving humanitarian issues and bringing peace to the region.

On the other hand, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jehon Peramov confirmed in a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan that Baku is ready to sign a peace treaty with Yerevan.

In a statement, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said: “Minister Pyramov reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region and preparing for the signing of a peace treaty.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani border witnessed a new round of clashes a few weeks ago, which left dozens of dead on both sides.
