The underpass in Königswiesen will remain in place for a year longer - the railway has postponed the new construction to 2024.

The main reason is the legal uncertainty caused by the lawsuit brought by BI.

Deutsche Bahn has postponed construction of the overpass in Königswiesen to 2024.

One reason for this is the lawsuit brought by the citizens' initiative.

Königswiesen

– For Dr.

Matthias Ilg, spokesman for the citizens' initiative (BI) "Oncoming traffic - lovable Königswiesen", this is good news: Because of the ongoing complaint by the BI against the planning approval decision for the new construction of the future increased and widened railway overpass on the district road through Königswiesen the project is delayed, a spokeswoman for Deutsche Bahn said when asked by Starnberger Merkur.

New date: 2024.

"Due to the pending lawsuit, the construction of the railway overpass in Königswiesen has been delayed," a spokeswoman said in writing.

"We have now scheduled the construction of the structure on Hauser Straße for autumn 2024." Currently "we cannot rule out a further delay in the construction work until there is legal certainty," the statement continues.

DB does not expect the court to make a decision before autumn 2022.

"We currently do not have a specific date."

The court has not yet given a hearing date for BI, which is represented by the Munich law firm Labbé, which specializes in construction law, Ilg explained when asked.

In the statement of claim against the planning approval decision, the lawyer had already listed all the objections raised by the citizens' initiative.

The existing railway overpass will last until 2037, reminds Ilg - so the BI doesn't see any rush.

A completely new construction with a district road that will be widened to 7.3 meters in the future for “fluent” two-lane oncoming traffic for trucks is not necessary, but endangers school children crossing the road, but also cyclists on the road.

A "small renovation" of the existing bridge structure is completely sufficient, according to BI spokesman and Greens councilor Ilg.

And this is how it's going on in the meantime: Preparatory work will be carried out from autumn 2022 to spring 2023, the railway spokeswoman said.

For example, vegetation measures or the laying of lines are planned.

"The construction process provides for the railway bridge to be built laterally and then pushed into its final position," the spokeswoman continued.

According to the current status, a 92-hour full closure of the railway line is necessary for the insertion in autumn 2024, but also some shorter breaks for cable work and the like.

A rail replacement service is planned for passengers during the closure phases in the Königswiesen area, the railway spokeswoman said.
