Barenboim is retiring for health reasons

The general music director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Daniel Barenboim, will not conduct for a long time due to health reasons.
Barenboim has announced that he will be withdrawing from some of his performances, especially conducting, for health reasons in the coming months, the State Opera confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
Berlin – Barenboim had previously announced his withdrawal via social media accounts.
The 79-year-old wrote: "My health has deteriorated over the past few months and I have been diagnosed with a serious neurological condition." It must now focus as much as possible on his physical well-being.
He will "retire from some of my performances, especially from conducting".
Barenboim had failed several times in the past.
The 79-year-old underwent spinal surgery in February.
On the recommendation of his doctors, he should then take a break.
Most recently, an inflammatory vascular disease forced him to be hospitalized and take a break.
