Gisela Graßl celebrated her 90th birthday in February, on which Mayor Thomas Loderer also congratulated her.

All her life, Gisela Graßl has stood up for her fellow human beings: In particular, as a long-standing Ottobrunn municipal councilor and as an organizer of craft markets.

She has now passed away at the age of 90.

Ottobrunn

- Gisela Graßl was born in Duisburg in 1932 and came to Ottobrunn in 1959 after completing her apprenticeship as a hotel manager.

Under her management, the Hubertusklause, a small restaurant, became well known.

The landlady found her way into local politics in 1978 through the non-partisan citizens' association in Ottobrunn (BVO).

All in all, Gisela Graßl worked as a municipal councilor for the local people for 24 years.

She served as a district councilor for eight years.

She was a member of the culture committee, the special-purpose association for state secondary schools and the contact person for senior citizens' questions.

At the same time, she practiced politics close to the people: "Politicians should return more to the ground of the facts", that was Gisela Graßl's motto.

She was second chairwoman of the BVO for more than ten years.

Founder of the Christmas Bazaar and the Hobby Artist Dult

Gisela Graßl was not only active in the political, but also in the social and social sphere: Together with other honorary posts, she founded the Christmas bazaar and the hobby artist Dult.

In the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus, she organized the arts and crafts market twice a year at Easter and Christmas.

After her political career, Gisela Graßl continued to be involved.

“Her biggest goal was to bring joy to those around her.

With an indomitable will, she realized her projects even in old age,” says Mayor Thomas Loderer.

He likes to remember the homemade delicacies at the Ottobrunn Christmas market: herring salad, lard bread and punch.

At the same time, Gisela Graßl was an amateur artist: she made wreaths and bouquets, which she sold at various markets.

In all her projects, she kept a piggy bank.

The proceeds went to charitable purposes such as the Munich parent foundation “Lichtblicke für severly ill children and children with cancer”.

In 2015, Thomas Loderer recognized Gisela Graßl's commitment with the Citizen's Medal.

Funeral on October 6th

Gisela Graßl shaped the community of Ottobrunn for more than five decades - she is one of the local personalities that almost everyone knows.

Her companions are sure: As a helpful and open person, G will be remembered by the citizens.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 6th at 11 a.m. in the Ottobrunn Park Cemetery.
