Dog Tommy already had to suffer a tragic fate.

Now the animal keepers are looking for a new home for the dog grandpa for his final days.

Nuremberg – It is one of the stories that animal rights activists will probably not soon forget.

Dog grandpa Tommy was picked up by the police and came to the Nuremberg animal shelter as a found dog.

"He was never missed."

The animal keepers are not surprised, since the four-legged friend arrived "with a burst tumor and already full of maggots".

The quick help of the nurses and an emergency operation saved Tommy's life.

Dog grandpa Tommy needs a home: "Unfortunately, no one knows how long I can live"

Unfortunately, the dog's tumor turned out to be malignant and, according to the animal shelter, could not be completely removed.

"Unfortunately, nobody knows how long I can live because of this," write the animal rights activists on Facebook from the dog grandpa's point of view.

It is therefore so urgent and important that Tommy finds a new home quickly.

A palliative place for his last days.

Tommy is about 12 years old, neutered, can't hear anymore and doesn't see well anymore.

However, he is actually still playful, greedy, "just nice" and is happy about any attention.

He also has no problem with other dogs.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the keepers at the shelter are unable to give him the attention he is longing for.

Dog grandpa Tommy: "Who will give my story a happy ending?"

"Who will give my story a happy ending?" Ask the animal rights activists on Facebook.

"Please get in touch quickly!" The shelter has already received a few prospective forms, but everything is still open at the moment.

Anyone interested in adopting Tommy can fill out the shelter's application form.

The sympathy under the Facebook post is great.

The post has already been shared over 5000 times.

Many wish Tommy all the best and keep their fingers crossed that he finds a new home quickly.

Not only the dog grandpa Tommy is waiting for a new family in the Nuremberg animal shelter, also the shepherd mix Askan is eagerly waiting for a new home.

Dog Bumblebee was just abandoned in front of the shelter, he too needs a new family.
