Will Europe have enough energy to survive the winter?
The first lever on which it will be necessary to act is demand.
At European level, ministers adopted on September 30 an overall voluntary reduction target of 10% of electricity consumption and a binding reduction target of 5% during peak hours.
France is releasing its own sobriety strategy on Thursday, the overall objective of which is to reduce the country's energy consumption by 10% (compared to 2019).
With regard to electricity, RTE, the Electricity Transmission Network, insisted, during the presentation of its report on the passage of winter, in mid-September, on the need to act on the consumption of point.
The risk of cuts will be eliminated if consumption drops by 1% to 5% during periods of tension, and up to 15% in the event of a cold snap.
