The all-day strike planned for this Thursday is expected to paralyze every second flight at the airline Eurowings.

Several German airports are affected.

Cologne – Eurowings passengers have to be prepared for problems – the pilots of the Lufthansa subsidiary are called on Thursday (October 6) to go on strike.

According to the airline, around every second Eurowings flight is likely to be affected.

Eurowings Europe flights are exempt from the strike.

The airline Eurowings Discover, which flies from Frankfurt and Munich, is also not affected by the strike, said a spokesman.

A maximum of one departure from Frankfurt to Pristina could not take place on Thursday, it said.

Eurowings strike: every second flight on Thursday affected

On the other hand, more than every second Eurowings flight at Stuttgart Airport is canceled on Thursday.

An airport spokeswoman announced on Wednesday that 54 of the 86 planned take-offs and landings with Eurowings flights were canceled.

The other 32 stayed on schedule.

As a result, it is to be expected that the terminal will be quieter than usual – affected passengers have either been rebooked or have received train tickets.

According to a spokeswoman, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport is also affected by the strike: the only Eurowings flight on Thursday towards Mallorca is cancelled.

Düsseldorf Airport will also be affected by the strike.

The airline assumes that it will be able to carry out "around half of the normal flight program".

The airline can also fall back on partners in the Lufthansa Group.

Passengers were asked to keep themselves informed about the status of their flight on the website www.eurowings.com or via the Eurowings customer app.

Travelers whose flight is canceled due to the strike should be informed about alternative transport options by Wednesday afternoon at the latest, the statement said

Eurowings criticizes strike as "irresponsible"

The pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit announced on Tuesday that negotiations on the general wage agreement at the Lufthansa subsidiary had failed.

Eurowings criticized the announced strike as disproportionate and irresponsible.

The VC is concerned with the conflict about better working conditions.

A central requirement is the relief of employees, for example by reducing the maximum flight duty times and increasing rest times.

Eurowings personnel manager Kai Duve called the demands "in times when millions of people are afraid of a cold winter and the next heating bill" excessive and dangerous for the future viability of flight operations and jobs.
