Tartous-Sana
The elements of the Forestry Department in the Directorate of Agriculture in Tartous governorate put out the fire that took place this evening, in the area between the villages of Buduqa, Al-Nawatif and Ka`biya Ammar in the Banias countryside in Tartous.
Dr. Fadi Diop, head of the Forestry Department at the Directorate of Agriculture, said in a statement to SANA that the members of the Forestry Department of the Baniyas unit worked to cordon off the fire in order to avoid its spread to neighboring areas, pointing out that the nature of the rocky area and the severity of its slope was an obstacle to the arrival of firefighting vehicles, which necessitated the intervention of the elements on foot. Equipped with manual extinguishing mechanisms to put out the fire.
Diop explained that the fire spread over an area estimated at 3 dunums that includes oak bushes, calling on the people to be careful and not set fire to the lands or leave any traces and residues that may cause fires to break out in order to preserve their properties.
