The Gartlertag took place again last weekend in Sankt Wolfgang

Sankt Wolfgang – “It’s finally Gartler’s Day again” was the motto at the weekend in the fully occupied Goldachhalle.

The numerous visitors flocked to the 22nd Gartlertag from all directions.

Several product queens also came to Sankt Wolfgang at the invitation of the 11th apple queen, Raphaela I.

In the school auditorium, visitors could test their knowledge of apple varieties at the apple exhibition, where numerous different varieties with their origin, fruit size and taste were presented, from the red Boskoop to the Pimona to the Adam's apple.

They also got to know the local herbs that grow on their own doorstep, as well as their uses and effects.

The members of the horticultural association were busy cutting cabbage, where wine sauerkraut was made from hundreds of kilograms of white cabbage in the traditional way.

And anyone who had too many plants or wanted to exchange their offshoots for a new green could take part in the plant exchange market.

There were insect hotels and woodwork, honey and jam, home-baked, home-grown and home-made.

Nobody had to go home empty-handed from the 22nd Gartlertag in Sankt Wolfgang.

"Short distances, great effect - that's what the gardening association lives for," said Mayor Ullrich Gaigl about the event, which was able to take place again after a two-year break due to corona.

Several local organizations help together: The Jeßling fire brigade took care of the parking situation, the Maibaumfreunde Armstorf provided the catering and the Sankt Wolfgang brass band provided the musical accompaniment.

"This cohesion makes Sankt Wolfgang what it is," said the head of the town hall.

A special pillar of the club is the youngsters, chairman Rudi Brand clarified.

The office of product queens is also part of the promotion of young talent.

The 11th St. Wolfgang Apple Queen, Raphaela I, was present with royal guests on this day.

Her reign was actually over last year, but since she was hardly able to carry out her office due to the corona, she agreed to hold it for two more years until 2023.

Then the queen's representative and third chairman Günter Schmalzl goes back to looking for a successor.
