The Russian state-owned company Gazprom wants to resume gas supplies to Italy.
The group announced that a technical solution had been found to transport gas to Italy via Austria.
The company did not comment on whether the delivery was linked to the election victory of right-wing populist Georgia Meloni.
Meloni had repeatedly shown understanding for Russian politics in the past.
The Gazprom group, managed by Putin's henchman Alexei Miller, has shown itself to be a vicarious agent of Russian foreign policy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has an interest in dividing Europe on energy policy issues.
