Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, discussed with UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Adele Khader and the accompanying delegation, the organization's work in Syria and ways to enhance health cooperation.
The meeting, which was held today at the Ministry's building, also dealt with enhancing cooperation in the field of the national vaccination program, where Dr. Al-Ghubash stressed that medical services are provided to all citizens alike, indicating the need to raise the voice in order to end the unilateral coercive measures that affect the health and livelihood of the citizen.
The minister also pointed to the need to raise the degree of coordination in the health field with the ministry, as it is the reference authority in this regard, in order to achieve a better and faster response, especially in terms of addressing cholera.
Dr. Al-Ghabash expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by UNICEF, stressing the importance of redoubling the effort to advance the health response to meet the needs, in a manner that ensures the preservation of citizens' health.
Khader expressed her appreciation for the work provided by the Ministry of Health, expressing all readiness for further coordination and cooperation, noting the ministry's handling of cholera, the response related to it, and the importance of the work it is doing regarding the availability of vaccines throughout the Syrian territory.
The resident representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Syria "Bo Victor Nylund", the Minister's assistants and a number of concerned managers from both sides participated in the meeting.
