Mittenwald – Since 2004, Helmut W. Klinner has headed the Historical Society, which was founded in 1987.
Now the historian - as a pensioner he also maintains the archives of the market town - was confirmed in office with his entire management team for another two years at the annual general meeting in the Gasthof Alpenrose (see elected).
Due to Corona, the last general meetings of the 61-member society and thus also the new elections due in 2020 were canceled.
Klinner had to look back on three years in his annual report.
"We were able to hold eight monthly meetings in 2019, only two in 2020 and no more in 2021".
In 2019 it was decided that the meetings would only be held every second month.
"It has proven itself," emphasized Klinner, "especially since we were also able to invite our members to activities such as excursions and exhibitions".
At the meeting, he announced that purchases and gifts from members and sponsors had further increased his own archive holdings.
"Six video films by Privat about events in Mittenwald between 1983 and 1991 and a book by Birte Rogacki-Thiemann about >The buildings of the architect Emil Lorenz< have been added".
In 2019, Sofie Wörnle presented the Society with three historical photos from Mittenwald between 1937 and 1939 and Sepp Wörnle ("Vere") presented the chronicle of the Madonna in the Laintal.
In addition, in 2020 Hans Keck, as the grandson of publisher Arthur Nemayer, left 108 copies of the Baader Chronicle to the company.
"We distribute these to members and interested parties and thus keep the history of Mittenwald alive".
The cash report by Georg Gschwendtner was also positive.
“Almost no expenses, but income from contributions and donations.
So we have enough share capital to expand our archive when the opportunity arises.”
In his greeting, Vice Mayor and Election Officer Georg Seitz (City Hall chief Enrico Corongiu joined later after an appointment) praised the Historical Society for its commitment.
"I'm glad you got through Corona so well.
Thanks to their huge wealth of history and the expertise of Chairman Klinner, they can organize interesting monthly meetings.
For that, a heartfelt blessing to God”.
Klinner noted that "anyone can attend our sessions without being or having to be a member."
