The Atlantic and Pacific hurricane season is in full swing.

Hurricane Orlene hits Mexico, but it is said not to be as brutal as Ian.

Munich/Mazatlán - After hurricane "Ian" caused severe devastation, especially in the US state of Florida, the next hurricane is on the horizon in Mexico.

"Ian" ravaged Florida with winds of 150 miles per hour (Km/h) and made landfall as a second strongest category hurricane.

Hurricane Orlene hit the Pacific coast of Mexico.

"Orlene" shouldn't be as bad as "Ian".

Because the hurricane was classified to the lowest category.

Hurricane "Orlene" in Mexico hits the mainland - heavy rain and wind expected

Despite the lowest hurricane category, "Orlene" hits land with wind speeds of up to 140 km/h.

The hurricane made landfall in Mexico near Isla del Bosque in northwest Sinaloa state amid heavy rain, the Mexican Meteorological Service reported on Monday.

In the meantime, "Orlene" on the Pacific reached hurricane category 4 and wind speeds of up to 215 km/h.

But the hurricane weakened again on the mainland.

The center of "Orlene" moves about 80 kilometers southwest of the city of Mazatlán, as reported by the US hurricane center.

The tropical cyclone is expected to lose strength quickly and even dissipate by Tuesday.

Nevertheless, heavy rain and wind are to be expected in the affected areas.

The authority warned the states of Jalisco, Colima, Sinaloa and Nayarit of high waves on Sunday.

Hurricane Orlene - Tropical cyclone season is still ongoing

Tropical cyclones usually occur when the water temperature is above 26 degrees Celsius.

The hurricane season in the Pacific runs from May 15th to November 30th.

The Atlantic hurricane season starts a little later - from June 1st to November 30th, the risk of a hurricane is higher.

Last year 19 tropical cyclones were recorded in the Pacific and 21 in the Atlantic.

"Ian" and "Orlene" will probably not have been the last.
