In Limay, high school students take the bus… in the middle of an industrial zone

A reorganization of the transport network obliges some students of the Lycée Condorcet to take their bus at the foot of the factories. Parents are

A week ago, a high school student from Limay (Yvelines) was knocked down after crossing the departmental road near his establishment.

He was slightly injured and his life is not in danger.

But for many parents at Lycée Condorcet, this type of event could well happen again.

In a letter addressed to local elected officials, they question the removal of several nearby bus stops.

Located in the heart of the city, “Condorcet” welcomes teenagers from neighboring towns: Issou, Hardricourt, Porcheville… Many go there by public transport.

“Since the start of the school year, the rules have changed and the service has been modified, confides Bruno Morosinotto-Hamot, member of the collective of citizens of Porcheville.

On line 9, for example, the bus now drops off students in the industrial zone, nearly 500 meters from the high school, forcing them to cross a road limited to 70 km/h where many trucks circulate.

The sidewalks are not even suitable for wheelchairs.

The teenagers are therefore taken care of between two factories, in the middle of heavy goods vehicles.

This Wednesday noon, traffic is regular in the industrial zone where the stops are located.

The vehicles are numerous and the speed limit of 70 km/h does not seem to be really respected.

“The bus passes in the same place as before… but without stopping”

“This line is neither reliable nor reassuring, says Mauïra, who has been waiting for her bus for almost 15 minutes.

There are often delays.

In the morning, it is quite dangerous during rush hour because there is a lot of road traffic.

And if you want to take line 20, it's possible… but the bus arrives almost 45 minutes before the start of classes!

»

Another originality noted by the parents of students: on the line hitherto favored by high school students, four stops have disappeared... without the circuit being modified.

“To sum up, the bus goes to the same place as before… but without stopping.

While there is demand!

“, Reports this same parent.

At the initiative of the local parents' federation (FCPE) and the collective, a petition has just been launched.

It has already collected a hundred signatures.

It will be sent to elected officials and to the company “Réseau du Mantois”, which manages travel in the Mantaise region.

The parents were received there last week and “the meeting was constructive.

"They promised us facilities for the start of the All Saints' Day but we will only be reassured when we see these facilities", assures Bruno Morosinotto-Hamot.

The RD Mantois company could not be reached on Wednesday.
