Anyone who converts the energy in their house in Neubiberg can apply for subsidies from the municipality.

The municipal council has now confirmed the vote of the main committee to increase the funding for the current year from 250,000 euros to 450,000 euros due to the very strong demand.

Neubiberg

– As in the committee, Michael Weigle (FDP) together with Lukas Jochum (USU) also voted against the overall package in the council.

Weigle's compromise proposal to set a maximum funding limit of 60 percent per measure for new entries was rejected by a majority.

Weigle's assessment that the measure "does not fulfill its purpose in the current situation because it does not encourage new projects but subsidizes measures that are already in progress" did not get through.

His approach that the lack of availability of materials and craftsmen was the problem also didn't catch on.

CSU Council: "There is money left"

For example, CSU finance officer Hartmut Lilge spoke out in favor of the extended and full funding of all projects from the 2022 candidacy list.

"There is money left over," emphasized the Christsoziale with a view to the budget for the current financial year for the new LED street lighting.

This conversion can only be completed from 2023 - the funds saved here are available.

He agreed with Reiner Höcherl (FW) to initially limit the scope of the support program to the current financial year.

"Now we have to support all the citizens who only get counseling about the energy conversion late and are willing to do so," Höcherl confessed.

In any case, future subsidy rates will be renegotiated again next year.

criticism of initiative

“The climate crisis leaves no room for manoeuvre.

Take yourself and your politics seriously and show the citizens that you mean business,” demanded Annika Gehrmann as a spokeswoman for the Neubiberg initiative “Climate Neutral 2035” when she spoke to the council before the funding package was voted on.

While the initiative advocates climate neutrality by 2035, the municipal council had set the target for 2040 a year ago.

Gehrmann praised the extended support program.

But it became clear that the initiative wants more.

"Earlier would be better," says Gehrmann.

Gehrmann and her colleague Christian Ellerhold are dissatisfied with the pace of the preparations.

Many municipal measures are only in the tendering phase.

Such approval alone takes six months.

"One reason for the delays may be the large number of staff changes in the environmental agency," criticizes the initiative.

"No project has really been started so far," they complain.

law and constraints

Criticism that Mayor Thomas Pardeller (CSU) did not want to accept in its entirety.

One stands in the district with a subsidy of almost 500,000 euros this year alone "very high".

The municipal buildings also want to be “climate-neutral by 2030 anyway.

It should be noted that Neubiberg is “particularly dependent on the city of Munich” for alternative forms of energy such as district heating.

In addition, building law requirements for the projects are “absolutely complied with”.

Nevertheless, demands like those from the citizens' side from the well-attended meeting remain.

"More e-mobility with more refueling options," demanded one citizen.

"We have the topic firmly on the agenda," promised Pardeller.
