The Innovation and Technology Carnival 2022 will be held at the end of this month. The Innovation and Technology Commission today (5th) invited the institutions and teams that have previously won the Innovation and Technology Fund and will be participating in the exhibition to showcase their inventions.

A team has developed a vigorous transport robot with artificial intelligence that can carry 600 kg of objects, hoping to help various industries carry objects.

There are also groups that invent machines to decompose cotton clothes, hoping to reduce waste.

This square car is an intelligent autonomous electric transport vehicle developed by the Automotive Technology Research and Development Center (APAS).

It is similar to an automatic guided vehicle (AGV), but without the need for a preset route, it can automatically plan a path and avoid obstacles, even rotate or translate in narrow corners and spaces, and provide a payload of up to 600 kg and climbing ability .

It can be applied in a variety of scenarios such as warehouses, hospitals, assembly plants with seamless indoor and outdoor operations.

The team hopes that transportation can help all walks of life to carry heavy loads, replacing the "forklifts" currently used in the transportation industry.

The APAS research team also made a mini version of the Dali transport vehicle to demonstrate driving around the ice cream cone for reporters. The team instructed the program to have built-in artificial intelligence and sensors. When the sensor detects an obstacle, it will immediately plan a new route so that the transport vehicle can go around over obstacles.

The four wheels of the transporter have their own power, plus they can be steered, so that the transporter can rotate 360 degrees on the spot, and can turn in all directions at any time, flexibly entering and leaving any environment.

Water and heat can decompose clothing for farming

In addition, the Hong Kong Textile and Apparel R&D Center has developed "GreenMachine: Separation and Recycling of Waste Polyester and Cotton Blended by Hydrothermal Treatment", which separates and recycles polyester fiber blends using only heat, water and less than 15% biodegradable chemicals. It effectively separates polyester from blended fabrics by breaking down cotton into cellulose powder.

The separated polyester fibers can be directly reused, while the cellulose powder can be converted into regenerated cellulose fibers and durable hydrophobic treatment agents, or cellulose superabsorbent polymers for agricultural applications.

A spokesman for the group pointed out that the original cotton clothing, after decomposing, can help cotton plants grown on farmland to absorb soil moisture.

The team hopes that Green Machine can take clothes recycling in a new direction.

The above inventions will be exhibited at the "Innovative Technology Carnival 2022" from October 22 to 30, 2022.

The public can visit the Hong Kong Science Park for free.

On that day, there will be a free shuttle bus service between the Hong Kong Science Park and MTR University Station and Tai Wai Station; on Saturdays and Sundays, free shuttle bus services will be provided between MTR Kowloon Tong Station and Admiralty Station to facilitate the public to travel to and from the venue.

Surgical robot company Yuanhua settled in Science Park, Director of Innovation and Technology Bureau Sun Dong and others attended the launching ceremony Innovation and Technology Bureau Zhang Manli encouraged young people to develop scientific research into majors Xu Lizhi urged students to lay a solid foundation Innovation and Technology Bureau Sun Dong said that he tried his best to train local biotechnology talents. The industry proposed industry proposals to the Chief Executive and developed a technology that can be used in masks to kill viruses
