Symbolic protest in the classroom: Iranian schoolgirls sing together - demonstratively without a headscarf - the song by the arrested singer Shervin Hajipour.

The song criticizes the compulsory hijab, the mullah regime and the »Supreme Leader«.

Social media is a weapon against oppression: many videos of protests and civil disobedience are being uploaded these days.

Especially on Twitter you see people rebelling against the system.

Now the death of 17-year-old activist Nika Shakarami is fueling the uprising.

According to authorities, the teenager died in a fall.

In the social media, however, the police are accused.

It says that Shakarami was tortured and murdered.

Iran's spiritual leader, Ali Khamenei, commented on the unrest for the first time on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, he didn't admit to any omissions, instead sensing foreign forces behind the protests:

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Spiritual Head of Iran

»

I state clearly that these riots were planned by America and the usurping and false Zionist regime.

And those who collect their salaries, some of whom are traitorous Iranians abroad, helped them

."

The wave of protests was triggered after the death of Jina Mahsa Amini.

The 22-year-old was arrested by the so-called vice police in mid-September after allegedly breaking the rules on wearing a headscarf.

She died three days later.

For weeks, the case in Iran has caused mass protests.

The police are responding to the regime's orders with extreme severity.

According to the Norwegian organization "Human Rights in Iran", more than 130 people have been killed in the uprisings so far.

Over a thousand are in captivity.
