The ministry stated in a statement that the Director-General of Western European Affairs at the Foreign Ministry affirmed, during the summoning of the ambassador, Iran's rejection and strong condemnation of the British Foreign Office's interference in Iranian internal affairs, and its resort to false and inflammatory terms, explaining that "the British side, by issuing unilateral and selective statements, shows that it has an actual share in Scenarios of opponents working in Britain against Iran.
The Iranian official indicated that Iran would study possible options in response to any abnormal action by the British side.
This is the second time in the last two weeks that Shercliffe has been summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where he was summoned on the 24th of last September to protest against the hostile atmosphere created by the British-based media.
