Bad Wiessee wants to face the challenges of the energy transition.

By 2026, at least one heating center with a local heating network should be in operation in the municipality.

The impetus came from the Greens representatives Karl Schönbauer and Johannes von Miller.

Bad Wiessee

- For Bad Wiessee, it is the second attempt to implement a local heating network in town.

There have already been plans to build a wood chip heating plant on a piece of land behind the Badepark.

However, the project was canceled by the municipal council in spring 2019, among other things due to a lack of profitability.

At that time, too few large buyers had been found.

There were also massive protests from local residents.

Karl Schönbauer follows suit in a new function

Even then, it was Schönbauer who advertised the Wiesseer heating plant with great enthusiasm.

At that time still as spokesman for the Tegernseer Tal Energy and Climate Protection Working Group (ATTEK).

Now he brought the subject up again – this time in his capacity as a municipal councilor.

"We are in the middle of the energy transition, and in the meantime even in an energy crisis," said Schönbauer in advance of the application.

Together with his colleague von Miller, he suggested the following direction: First, the municipality must identify a suitable municipal location for the local heating network and central heating systems.

Site analysis and customer acquisition

In addition, an expert should be invited to speak to the municipal council about possible operating structures, regional availability of energy sources and the EU-wide tendering process.

On the basis of these results, a current location analysis should be commissioned and a customer survey carried out for capacity planning.

"We have to operate a clean customer acquisition," demanded Schönbauer, who listed the advantages of such a local heating supply.

So you don't just use regenerative and CO2-neutral energy sources.

The added value also remains largely in the region due to the availability of wood chips.

It makes sense for the networks to be operated by an external operator.

Florian Sareiter (CSU) advocates an energy mix

Approval for the application came from CSU spokesman Florian Sareiter.

The municipality must reposition itself in terms of energy technology.

"The application supports that." Such a heating plant could only be one of several components, said Sareiter.

"The decisive factor is the energy mix." Even if the timetable seems quite sporty to him, his parliamentary group can still fully agree to the motion.

Wolf-Hagen Böttger also praised the "very good drafting" of the Greens' application and described it as a "wonderful proposal".

"We should make our town fit for the future," said Böttger and announced the approval of the SPD parliamentary group.

With 17:0 votes, the motion and proposed resolution of the two Green municipal councils were finally accepted.
