Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Pentagon's statements about possible strikes in the Crimea are evidence of the US involvement in the events in Ukraine.
Sputnik quoted Peskov as telling reporters today about the Kremlin's assessment of the Pentagon's statements about possible strikes on the peninsula: "Such statements, direct or indirect, confirm the direct involvement of the United States in the conflict in Ukraine, which creates a very dangerous situation."
Laura Cooper, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, said that the HIMARS missiles and munitions transferred to Ukraine allow the Ukrainian army to strike the Crimean peninsula.
On the other hand, Peskov said: Changing the designation of the special military operation to an anti-terrorist operation is the prerogative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
