Researchers at Sun Yat-Sen University in China have warned of the consequences of air pollution on human health, which leads to an increased risk of stroke.
According to the Medical Express newspaper, the researchers explained in a statement that the presence of high levels of air pollution in the atmosphere is associated with an increased risk of stroke and cardiovascular problems.
The study focused on people's exposure to air pollution based on where they live and included 318,752 people with an average age of 56 years, in which the participants had no history of stroke or heart disease at the beginning of the 12-year study, during which 5,967 people suffered from stroke, while 2,985 people developed diseases. Cardiovascular disease and later 1020 people died.
The researchers confirmed that those exposed to high levels of air pollution are more likely to have a stroke or cardiovascular disease after stroke or death than those who were not exposed to high levels of pollution.
