Rewe wanted to make its customers happy with a nice gift.
But the gift was not well received by a customer – because of one detail.
Munich – As is well known, one can argue about taste.
Not only the decision for or against the consumption of meat often causes tempers to heat up.
A preparation tip from Edeka for non-vegans recently made waves.
A food that has long been a matter of opinion can be bought in any discount store or supermarket.
It's about a vegetable that consists of small, round, green balls: Brussels sprouts.
Some people really enjoy eating it, while others really hate cabbage.
A Rewe customer came into direct contact with it during her visit to the supermarket - and was apparently not at all happy about it.
Rewe gives a customer a Brussels sprouts shopping bag – she is not at all enthusiastic
The Rewe customer published a photo on Twitter showing a printed shopping bag.
In addition to the Rewe label, there was something else to see on the bag.
"I got a bag as a gift... it's got Brussels sprouts on it!
Cauliflower!
Why Rewe?” asked the shocked user.
With the well-intentioned gift, the Rewe branch had obviously come to the wrong person.
With her post, the Twitter user showed that she is not one of the Brussels sprouts fans – quite the opposite.
And she's not alone in her rejection.
A Twitter user found the shopping bag scary because of the Brussels sprouts print and commented under the post: "Spooky October bag." Another user speculated about Rewe's gift: "Maybe because you know that Brussels sprouts are a hot topic on Twitter?" And also came out: "I belong to the 'I hate Brussels sprouts' faction."
Rewe reacts to his customer's Brussels sprouts tweet - "Top vegetables, top bag"
Rewe's Twitter team didn't take long to answer the Brussels sprouts tweet either.
"Top vegetables, top bags," the supermarket chain defended both the vegetables and their gift.
The reaction of the author of the tweet was clear: a bitter tears crying emoji.

Rewe, on the other hand, received support from a number of other users.
"Brussels sprouts are love," they said.
"Ahh I must have the bag," said one user.
"It's delicious," wrote one user succinctly.
So there are also Brussels sprouts fans in Germany.
Meanwhile, an English presenter was unable to live out his culinary love of Brussels sprouts after an order from the supermarket.
