Amid a crowd of different segments of Syrian society, the national premiere of the film “The Syriacos Section” directed by Olivier Bordua and produced by the Ministry of Culture, the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums, and the Syrian Trust for Development in the Citadel of Damascus kicked off this evening.

The film tells the true story of Syrian heroes who defended the identity and memory of the Syrian people in the face of terrorism, which affected the human heritage in the city of Aleppo, where the director of the French film, Olivier Bordeaux, carried out the depth of preserving cultural identity during the war that affected Syria and extended the identity of its people, embodying in his scenes the role of the state. Syria, and its official and unofficial institutions, to protect its history and cultural and human heritage.

The film sheds light on the dimension of the intellectual and ideological identity of the Syrian people, represented by its heroes who worked to protect the antiquities, artifacts and artifacts in the Aleppo National Museum, preventing their loss, destruction or theft, to be custodians of this legacy, as it is the property of all humanity, and is safeguarded for future generations.

The film talks about the solidarity of a small group of archaeologists and museum curators, with the escalation of the terrorist war on the city of Aleppo in 2015, to preserve the archaeological collections, which numbered about 50,000 artifacts, from the holdings of the Aleppo National Museum, in defiance of a barrage of shells and sniper fire, They lay for days and nights on the museum grounds, to accomplish their humanitarian mission without electricity or water, so they worked with every effort and honesty to hide the archaeological statues and valuable collectibles, to preserve them from the hands of the terrorists.

The film “The Syriacos Section”, which is classified as a documentary drama, which has won more than 15 international awards at international festivals, confirms the certainty of Syrian archaeologists in Syria and their absolute belief that if Syrian antiquities and museums’ collections are lost, the world will lose a part of human history with them, so they were its faithful guards.
