A man was sentenced Wednesday in Toulouse to 23 years in prison for having killed in July 2019 a policeman, who was not on duty, at the exit of a Toulouse nightclub.
The Advocate General had requested 25 years of imprisonment against this amateur boxer.
Violence in meetings
The Haute-Garonne Assize Court also sentenced the man who accompanied the murderer on the night of the crime - who had attacked the victim's comrade who tried in vain to intervene - to 9 years in prison, suspended for
“violence in meetings”.
Around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday July 20, on leaving the discotheque, the amateur boxer had doubled the queue in front of a chip shop, being vindictive.
The plainclothes policeman had intervened to try to calm him down, without asserting his status.
The man then shoved him, before kicking and punching him on the upper body.
The victim, aged 35, could not be revived by the emergency services and died on the spot.
