, since February 24, 2022, to keep you informed of the situation on the ground and the consequences of this conflict.

I arrived in kyiv on February 21, on the last Air France flight from Paris, to follow the events there.
That same evening Vladimir Putin delivered an indictment against the power in kyiv and proclaimed the independence of the separatist regions in the east of the country, thus turning his back on diplomacy and announcing the imminence of a war aimed at washing away the affronts of history and to restore the greatness of Russia.
The first Russian bombs hit the Ukrainian capital at dawn on February 24, a few minutes after a new intervention by the head of the Kremlin,
in which he promised to decapitate President Volodymyr Zelensky from power and "denazify" Ukraine.
Russian military superiority was deemed so overwhelming that Western intelligence predicted victory within 72 hours of Moscow.
With some colleagues, and not without a certain apprehension, we therefore expected to see the Russian tanks arriving under our windows.
They never made it to the city center!
I left for Paris after a little over a month of waiting, as the Ukrainians finally repelled the Russian forces from Irpin and Boutcha, north of kyiv.
Two hundred and twenty-five days later, the new tsar seems further than ever from achieving his goals.
The formidable chess player multiplied the miscalculations.
This is why I have decided, in this first issue of “Eclats du monde”, to draw up for you a – non-exhaustive – catalog of its errors.
