City University of Hong Kong (CityU)'s flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme "HK Tech 300" received another venture capital support.
Four innovation and technology investment companies signed a memorandum with CityU today (6 October) to invest HK$5 million, or HK$20 million in total, into HK Tech 300 in the first year to jointly provide angel investment to selected start-ups and work together to support them Local start-ups with development potential to promote the development of innovation and technology in Hong Kong.
The four innovative technology investment companies that signed a memorandum with CityU today are “Particle Ventures”, which is dedicated to assisting start-ups to obtain international cooperation opportunities; Shenzhen-Hong Kong Joint Investment Fund Co., Ltd. Zebra Planet, which targets the new and old economy, and Lion Peak Investment Management Co., Ltd., which actively invests in new-generation industries.
The signing ceremony was officiated by CityU President Guo Wei, and witnessed by Dr. Leung Shao-kang, member of the CityU Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CityU Enterprises Limited, and Mr. Qiu Dagan, Member of the Legislative Council (Science and Technology Innovation), respectively by the Chief Discovery Officer of Particle Ventures. Cai Mingdu, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Joint Investment Partner Dr. Wu Zhihao, Zebra Planet Founding Partner Professor Hong Weimin and Shifeng Chairman and Partner Liu Yunpu signed the agreement with CityU Vice President (Administration) and CityU Enterprise Co., Ltd. Managing Director Li Huiguang.
In his speech, President Kuo Wei pointed out that CityU’s world-class scientific researchers are committed to engaging in and leading scientific and technological innovation research. The school has been the local university with the most US patents for six consecutive years, and its achievements are obvious to all; CityU will further assist young people through HK Tech 300 People transform knowledge and technology into practical applications for the benefit of society
Together with CityU Capital Limited, Chuangyu Interactive Limited and Lianyi Technology Limited Partnership Fund, which have signed memorandums with CityU earlier, HK Tech 300 has so far established co-investment partnerships with seven technology investment companies and funds.
