A St. Bernard hobbles down the freeway.

Lots of drivers drive by.

But one of them becomes a hero and saves the injured dog.

When a dog escapes, it is often a disaster for the owner.

After all, they don't know where he is at first and they can best look for it.

Then the head cinema starts: Is the four-legged friend doing well?

Has something happened to him?

After all, it can quickly become dangerous if the furry nose runs onto a busy street.

Or he meets another dog who is not well disposed towards him.

If it's very cold, it's raining, windy or snowing, the dog can also get hypothermia if it wanders around for hours and can't find its way home.

If help comes too late, it can end badly.

And last but not least, there are also animal and dog haters who do not want to do them any good.

Only recently it became known that such a poisoned bait with heroin was hidden in a park in Frankfurt.

Several dogs then had to be taken to the veterinary clinic, and some even died.

That's why it's always nice to see when a person stands by an animal in need without thinking twice.

A St. Bernard that was recently on the A3, between the Wiesentheid junction and the Haidt-Nord service area in the direction of Frankfurt, can also be considered lucky.

He is said to have wandered around there in the evening and hobbled, according to several eyewitnesses.

Some drivers are said to have called the police.

A road user finally intervened and caught the dog, as the police announced on their Facebook page.

He held him with a dog leash and gave him treats off the highway until a traffic police patrol arrived.

In the meantime, the police in Kitzingen received a call from a 49-year-old missing his dog.

The man was apparently swimming at noon when the four-legged friend escaped.

The happy ending follows: the dog probably had a small injury on its right rear paw, which caused it to limp.

This was taken care of and then his owner was finally able to hug him again.

In any case, the Facebook users are very touched by so much commitment and thank them in large numbers in the comments.

Here is a selection:

  • "Many would have passed, so I think it's really great that he intervened so courageously.

    Wasn't entirely safe.

All the best for dog and master.”

  • “To everyone involved: you are the best.

Finally some good news at a crazy time.

    Thank you very much."

  • "Wonderful!

Good news from courageous (nevertheless considered) actions with a good result.

    Greetings to everyone involved.

    Carry on, please!!”

  • "Well, there were guardian angels at work!

All the best for dog and master and many thanks to the rescuer!“

  • "It's so good to read that there are still people with a heart.

Most of the time you just read about abandoned animals and animal cruelty.”

  • "A very animal-loving person who risks his life to save the dog and avoids what could be a bad accident."

  • "In times of gawkers and those who don't look away, such courageous action gives me hope again."
