The step from school life into everyday working life is probably one of the biggest hurdles that have to be overcome as a young person.

At the Wilhelm-Conrad-Röntgen-Mittelschule, the young people now had the opportunity to ask questions and make contacts.

Weilheim – Some excitement could be felt in the corridors and rooms of the middle school during “speed dating” as part of the school’s internal job fair.

More than 25 employers had gathered and campaigned for the favor of the students at their stands.

As in the previous year, companies from a wide variety of sectors were represented.

Important information and honest feedback

Some of them were able to come up with finished projects from their training.

For example at the Agfa stand, where Daniel Friedl provided an overview.

Around ten interested parties had already visited the stand and obtained more information, he said.

Deutsche Bahn was also available for talks with the young people.

Many would show great interest, it said.

Events like these are a "great entry ticket" into the professional world, said the railway employees.

"Even if they don't apply in the end, they still take important information and honest feedback with them." Nine young people signed up for a short job interview.

According to the employees, there are also clear preferences within the sexes.

Deutsche Bahn can offer 50 different apprenticeships.

The talks took place on the upper floors.

In the corridors, many schoolchildren were already eagerly comparing their application folders.

General knowledge questions

16-year-old Djibril Delgado had already completed his interview.

He was pleased that the questions from the trainers were very well adapted to the students.

“You have to know something about the professions.

But the many general knowledge questions were easy to answer,” he said.

The concept of enabling the students to have quarter-hour talks with representatives of the companies and businesses present with specially prepared application documents leads to an initial orientation of the young people.

In addition, they would get to know their strengths and weaknesses, according to the school management.

And it's completely risk-free.

The work has to please

Tizian Ostler was also able to take something away from his job interview.

The ninth grader signed up for an interview with Thomas Kraus, trainer of young precision mechanics at the Xylem company.

The two already knew each other.

Ostler has already completed a one-week internship at the company.

He wants to do something manual, he's sure of that.

Kraus thought it was good that the student already had a few internships, also with other companies: "That's great.

You can explore a bit there,” says the trainer.

The ninth grader is already familiar with the company.

"It's especially important that I enjoy my work," he said.

The whole thing should also be fun, agreed Kraus.

He likes working with young people.
