Report in the General Assembly: The fact that the demand for bottled beer increased meant that the Reutberg monastery brewery got through the crisis with a black eye.

Sachsenkam/Habach

– In difficult times you have to be flexible and seize opportunities that arise: The Reutberg brewery cooperative did this and now, in catch-up mode, invited to the General Meetings of 2020, 2021 and 2022, which were canceled due to the corona virus.

The festival tent that the Freisl company had erected in Habach on the occasion of their company and family anniversary served as the venue.

The summary: Despite the restrictions imposed by politicians at times, such as the ban on gatherings of all kinds and restaurant closures and regulations, and the unpredictability of festivities, the brewery made slight profits.

While an annual surplus of around EUR 60,000 was determined for the 2020 financial year, it was around EUR 93,000 in the 2021 financial year.

Reutberg Brewery thanks employees for their great commitment

Like brewery board member August Maerz, managing director Stephan Höpfl and supervisory board chairman Hans Erhard also thanked the employees, whose commitment – “often even after work” – played a large part in the positive development.

Of course, the customers are also important, as Höpfl explained: clubs, companies, beverage markets, home service customers and restaurants.

The latter would have suffered particularly from the Corona measures.

The sales balance shows sales of around 21,200 hectoliters of own beer in 2021.

"That was 150 hectoliters of tank beer, more than 2800 hectoliters of draft beer and more than 18,200 liters of bottled beer," as the managing director listed.

In addition, there is the sale of around 7900 hectoliters of commercial products.

The purchase of new empties made sense, stated Maerz, who did not hide his displeasure with the political decisions.

Because during the Corona period, the demand for bottled beer increased significantly.

"This development has really helped us a lot."

Prospects for monastery brewery are fatal

Despite the major problems that had opened up for small and medium-sized businesses, "san mir no guad davokemma".

With a view to the 2022 financial year, which has almost ended, one can speak of a restrained spring, a strong summer and an average autumn.

The prospects for the coming months with exploding energy prices are fatal.

"We don't yet know what prices we have to estimate for our beer next year," says Maerz.

The middle class is existentially on the brink.

However, there has been a spatial change with regard to a plot of land owned by the brewery, as Maerz informed the 500 or so comrades in the tent: At the request of the Hawe company and the Sachsenkam municipality, the 5000 square meter plot of land in the industrial area was exchanged for another exchanged the same size in the corridor "An der Wagleiten".

The advantage is that a notarial purchase offer for a further 3,400 square meters, valid from 2025 for a period of ten years, is pending.

If this offer is taken up, the brewery would have the opportunity to become completely independent in terms of space.

New elections in the general assembly of the Reutberg monastery brewery

In accordance with cooperative law, new elections finally had to be held.

After 35 years of service on the supervisory board, Hans Gams no longer stood as a candidate, as did Benno Lichtenegger after 14 years.

His successors were Hans Leo, founding board member of the Tegernsee natural cheese dairy, and Ernst Dieckmann, mayor of Reichersbeur.
